The bookable crossings serve the islands closest to Florida: Bimini at 51 miles and Freeport on Grand Bahama at 85. Nassau lies about 180 miles out across open Atlantic water, and no operator runs a scheduled passenger ferry on that leg. The options that actually work
Fly. The pragmatic answer. Nonstop flights connect Fort Lauderdale and Miami with Nassau in about an hour, run by several carriers year-round, and often cost less than a long detour. For a Nassau-centred trip - Paradise Island, Atlantis, the historic town - this is the way.
Arrive by cruise. Nassau is one of the busiest cruise calls in the world, and for a one-day taste of the city a cruise stop delivers exactly that. It is a different product with different rules - on a closed-loop cruise the document requirements differ from the ferry's passport rule - and it books as a cruise, not as transport.
Ferry plus flight for a two-island trip.
